About Takecare Clinic Railay
Takecare Clinic Railay is a nurse-led walk-in clinic on the Railay peninsula, open
8am to 10pm every day and reachable by phone, WhatsApp and Line at any hour.
You do not need an appointment, a referral or Thai residency to be seen.
Why a clinic on the peninsula matters
Railay has no roads, no cars and no hospital. Everything arrives and leaves by longtail boat.
That is most of the charm and all of the problem the moment something goes wrong — a cut, a twisted
ankle or a fever otherwise means a walk to the beach, a crossing to Ao Nang and onward transport,
which is comfortably two hours each way once you have waited for a boat.
That gap is why people put things off, and why minor problems here become real ones. A clinic on
Railay removes the excuse: most things are ten minutes and a small fee, dealt with on day one rather
than day four.
Part of the Takecare network
We work together with Doctor Ao Nang Takecare Medical Clinic in Ao Nang. The two clinics share doctors, records
and treatment plans, so care started on the peninsula continues without repetition if you cross to
the mainland, and anything beyond what we can do here is handled by people already holding your
notes. It also means a second clinical opinion is a phone call rather than a boat ride.
Who we look after
Most of our patients are climbers, divers and travellers staying on Railay, Tonsai and Phra Nang,
plus the people who work here through the season. The clinic is staffed by experienced English-speaking nurses, with doctors shared with our Ao Nang clinic who attend when one is needed. We are used to
patients who have no medical records with them and who need to understand what is happening, and
what it costs, before agreeing to it.
What we can do on site
- Walk-in nurse consultations, no appointment needed
- Same-visit blood tests, including dengue and full blood counts
- Climbing injury assessment — falls, fingers, ankles and rock cuts
- Stitches, wound care and minor surgery, including urchin spine removal
- IV drips for dehydration, heat illness and stomach infections
- Doctor resort visits on foot across the peninsula
What we do not do
We are a clinic, not a hospital, and there is no hospital on Railay. We have no X-ray, no operating
theatre and no inpatient beds. Anything needing imaging, surgery or admission goes to Krabi Town, and
what we do in those cases is stabilise, call ahead, and arrange the boat and the ambulance — see
evacuation and hospital transfer.
For anything threatening life, breathing or the brain, call 1669 and call us at
the same time rather than waiting.
Costs and insurance
You are told the price before anything beyond the basic consultation is done. Payment is at the end
of the visit by cash or card, and you leave with an itemised receipt and an English medical report —
the two documents almost every travel insurer asks for.
If you are climbing, check your policy before you need it. A great many travel policies exclude
rock climbing entirely — see travel insurance claims.
